WELCOME TO THE RIOT!

Greeting comrades,
Welcome to the Toronto Toy Riot Newsletter!
We are now just THREE DAYS from the show!
We’re positively vibrating over here at TTR Headquarters!
Here’s this week’s Rundown:
Toronto Toy Riot is 100% FREE TO ATTEND.
We believe that toys are an accessible and ubiquitous media form, whether it be contemporary toys, vintage toys, or the hand made art toys and designer toys of the indie toy community!
As part of our commitment to accessibility, we are hosting Toronto Toy Riot as a 100% free to attend event! That means you can just stroll right in and support the artists! No tickets, no wristbands, no hand stamps!
That means anyone interested in attending the event can attend regardless of demographic or income level!!!
Curious about art toys and what this community is all about? Come by and check it out!
Event Hours, and Venue Location!
Toronto Toy Riot is on May 2nd and 3rd!!!!
Show Hours:
Saturday, May 2nd: 12pm-7pm
Sunday, May 3rd: 12pm-5pm!
The event is taking place at the TRANZAC CLUB, at 292 Brunswick Ave, Toronto, ON M5S 2M7

Right in the heart of Toronto’s Annex Neighbourhood, the Tranzac has long been a site for indie art and culture in the city! They host the Toronto Zine Library on the second floor, and host events such as Paper Jam - an annual zine event that brings together creators working in print media that we believe is a kindred event to our own!
Note that parking is limited near the venue to street parking (we recommend trying to find parking on a nearby side street!). If you are travelling by public transit, the venue is located between Spadina and Bathurst subway stations - be sure to check the TTC’s website for service notifications, as we know - the TTC sometimes shuts down parts of the Subway network on Weekends URGGGGH
TTR receives Toronto Event Generator Microgrant!

We have some exciting news! We have received a micro grant from Toronto Event Generator!
If you don’t know the organization, they are a great resource to find out about interesting events happening in Toronto!
“We want to make Toronto a better place to find fun, weird, high-participation events. We do this by supporting events with microgrants, finding venues, and promotion, and by creating listings of events we like. Run by Misha Glouberman and friends. “
Thank you Misha and Friends! The funding we’ve received will be put towards providing our vendors and volunteers with coffee and snacks! We appreciate the support very much!
Toronto Toy Riot KITBASH TABLE!

While the event will feature the work of many talented artists that you can view and purchase, we believe that art toys are an accessible medium!!! We believe that so strongly, that we’re hosting the Toronto Toy Riot Kitbash Table!
For a small fee of $20, you can come to the show and make your own 3 ¾ inch scale art toy, with a 6 x 9 inch backer card. Put it all together in a clear plastic clamshell, and hang it on your wall!
Kitbashing is the tried and true practice of taking different pieces from different toys and action figures, and reassembling them into new configurations! You’ll be able to choose from different parts and pieces, glue them together, and add some paint! In addition, you’ll get a blank backer card to make your own art for your toy! We’ll have paints, markers and old print media for collaging for your creations!
We’ll have people on hand to help you through the different parts of making your art toy! This event is great for those interested in making their own toys of any age: kids, adults, whoever!
A special thank you to DKE Toys for their sponsorship and support of the Kitbash Table!
TEES! TOTES! Mini Playset! STICKERS! POSTERS! BUTTONS!

Pop by the Toronto Toy Riot table to grab one of our T-Shirts, Totebags and Mini Playsets all weekend! We’re also going to have buttons, stickers and posters available - feature our in-house poster art, and posters by guest poster artist Patrick Sparrow
